Job summary

Teton County Planning and Building is seeking a Building Official to lead the Building Division, oversee plan reviews, enforce codes, and ensure compliance with state laws and regulations. The role involves supervising staff, coordinating with the public and contractors, and guiding inspections and permit processes.

Ideal candidate has an Associate’s Degree in construction-related field, five years of experience, and ICC Building Official certification, with strong leadership and a focus on

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent in construction tech, engineering or related field
• Five years’ experience in building inspection, code enforcement, and plan review programs
• ICC Building Official certification required; may need additional certifications

Responsibilities

• Lead Building Division operations, supervise staff, and manage workload and service delivery.
• Interpret, administer and enforce building, plumbing, mechanical, and property maintenance codes.
• Coordinate plan review and permit issuance with contractors and the public.
• Support development of goals, objectives, and staffing plans for building inspections and administration.
• Ensure compliance with state laws, policies, and regulations.
• Maintain records and provide customer service to the public.
