Job summary

Jacobs in California seeks a Mid-Level Building Mechanical Engineer to contribute to challenging infrastructure projects. You will design HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems for water/wastewater facilities and other buildings, focusing on code compliance and central plant design.

The role involves mentoring junior engineers, coordinating with architects and clients, and delivering on-time, within-budget engineering deliverables in a hybrid work setup.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive building mechanical engineering and project delivery experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Strong data analysis, problem solving, organization and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design complete HVAC systems, including central plants and energy codes.
  • Design plumbing, fire protection and central utilities for buildings.
  • Perform HVAC loads, duct sizing, energy analyses and RESCHECK/COMCHECK.
  • Prepare detailed design drawings, specs and vendor coordination.
  • Lead meetings, communicate with clients and stakeholders.
  • Manage project budgets, schedule, and quality control.
  • Support field staff during construction and respond to RFIs and submittals.
