Carter Lumber in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking an Outside Sales Representative who builds and maintains relationships with local contractors, builders, and remodelers. You will sell our full line of building materials and installed services, and manage each job and its relationships after closing.

The role emphasizes proactive communication, site visits, estimating and quotes, and attention to project details. You will collaborate with yard and dispatch, plan schedules, and strive to read blueprints

Qualifications

• Requires experience in sales with a proven track record.
• Knowledge of home building basics is required.
• Ability to create material estimates/quotes and manage special orders.
• Excellent communication and independent work capability.

Responsibilities

• Sell full line of building materials and installed services to contractors.
• Manage each job and relationship after sale.
• Visit job sites as needed and maintain project schedules.
• Collect up-to-date information on customer product use and trends.
• Read blueprints and provide material take-off lists.
• Attend HBA/builder/company functions as required.
