Position: Building Management System (BMS) Engineer – Data Center Operations

Location: Remote

Department: Critical Facilities / Data Center Engineering

Reports To: Data Center Engineering Director / BMS Supervisor

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Building Management System (BMS) Engineer to support the operational integrity and performance optimization of our mission-critical Data Center infrastructure. This role focuses on the configuration, programming, and maintenance of Building Automation Systems, with deep expertise in the Leading Building Management System Platforms ...Automated Logic (ALC) is a plus. The ideal candidate brings a data-driven mindset, strong HVAC controls knowledge, and experience working in 24/7 critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, program, and maintain BMS controls using Leading Building Management System Platforms ...Automated Logic (ALC) is a plus, to ensure optimal environmental performance and uptime in the data center.
• Monitor, trend, and analyze real-time system data (temperature, humidity, air flow, etc.) to ensure compliance with SLAs and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with Data Center Operations, Electrical, and Mechanical teams to support integration and troubleshooting of HVAC, CRACs, chilled water systems, and other mechanical infrastructure.
• Create and maintain graphics, dashboards, and alarming systems within WebCTRL for critical facility visibility and quick issue resolution.
• Manage and document BMS control logic changes, system modifications, and hardware upgrades in compliance with internal change management policies.
• Perform routine diagnostics, predictive maintenance, and issue resolution for both hardware and software components of the BMS.
• Lead commissioning efforts for new equipment and systems, ensuring seamless integration with the existing BAS architecture.
• Interface with third-party vendors and contractors during system installations, upgrades, and audits.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation including network diagrams, control drawings, sequence of operations (SOOs), and user guides.
• Some travel to remote DC locations meeting with vendors, Alarm testing, etc.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering, or related technical field.
• 3–5 years of experience in a mission-critical environment (data center, hospital, lab, etc.) working with Building Automation Systems.
• Hands-on experience with Leading Building Management System Platforms ...Automated Logic (ALC) is a plus, including programming, graphics, alarms, and trend analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC controls, airflow management, chilled water systems, and environmental monitoring in data center contexts.
• Familiarity with industry protocols (BACnet, Modbus, SNMP) and integration of third-party systems (e.g., power monitoring, fire safety).
• Strong understanding of critical facilities operations and the role of BMS in uptime and performance metrics.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, and common project management tools.
• Solid understanding of IP networking as it relates to BAS devices and supervisory controllers.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with Leading Building Management System Platforms.
• A big Plus if you have experience with ALC WebCTRL Certification or manufacturer-specific training.
• Experience with redundant system designs and failover strategies in high-availability environments.
• Familiarity with DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) tools and integration with BMS platforms.
• Knowledge of sustainability best practices and energy efficiency tuning in data centers.
