Job Summary

Provides carpentry and building maintenance for campus buildings, including interior spaces for all the campus buildings.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance work orders for carpentry and maintenance services. Purchase maintenance materials, supplies, and services following University and departmental policies.
• Construct, install, and repair walls, partitions, ceilings, floors, including framing, drywall, finish carpentry, acoustical tile, doors, and hardware. Repair and install floor tiles, carpet squares, cabinets, shelves, and desks. Paint and touch up areas, repaint offices, hallways, and classrooms.
• Assist HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical Supervisors with cost estimates for carpentry-related maintenance and remodeling projects. Provide on-call support for housing issues, participating in a weekly rotation.
• Conduct assessments of building envelopes, exterior windows, and roofing systems.
• Utilize the woodshop and metal shop facilities, collaborating with other Facility Departments.
• Perform snow removal operations as needed.

Experience

Additional Information

• Work is performed in indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to various weather conditions. Must frequently stand, walk, handle objects, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
• Complies with environmental health and safety policies.
• This position is essential and requires availability outside regular hours for snow removal or event support.
• Summer maintenance duties may limit vacation opportunities during certain periods, especially around graduation and start of the school year.
• Position is full-time, 40 hours/week, year-round, with a requirement to be on call one week per month.
