Job summary

Dowell Elementary School in Calvert County is seeking a Building-Based Restorative Practices Facilitator to support MTSS implementation. You will collaborate with teachers and staff to build belonging, improve classroom climate, and apply restorative approaches to misbehavior.

The role requires two-day Restorative Practices Training and the ability to lead professional development, train staff, and document progress using the Professional Learning Platform.

Qualifications

• Two-day Restorative Practices Training completed.
• Deep understanding of restorative approaches, and relationships between staff and students.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with staff and students.
• Willingness to commit to quarterly after-school sessions with the District Restorative Practices Team.
• Experience leading school-based professional development sessions.

Responsibilities

• Assist building leadership with the creation and implementation of the school’s Restorative Practices Action Plan.
• Participate in year-start training and quarterly facilitator meetings.
• Develop a plan with administration to train existing and new staff in restorative practices.
• Maintain records of trained staff through the Professional Learning Platform.
• Collaborate with the school behavioral/mental health team to engage students in restorative conversations.
• Provide consultation to classroom teachers on implementing restorative approaches.
• Conduct brief professional development to build skills in restorative approaches as directed.
• Maintain communication with Department of Student Services restorative practices leaders.
• Submit evidence of implementation activities to the Department of Student Services.
