Job summary

New Haven Public Schools seeks a Restorative Practices Teacher Leader to build district capacity in restorative approaches and data-driven outcomes. The role focuses on coaching school leaders, implementing universal to intensive supports, and monitoring effectiveness of the restorative continuum.

The position reports to the Supervisor of Youth Engagement within the Office of Youth, Family, and Community Engagement and emphasizes collaboration, prevention, and equitable student discipline

Qualifications

  • Formal training in Restorative Practices.
  • Experience facilitating restorative practices and social-emotional learning for school stakeholders.
  • Experience building positive school culture and tiered supports.
  • Experience coaching adults and leading them to goals.
  • Understanding rules on suspensions/expulsions.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize relationships, collaboration and communication.
  • Coordinate and provide professional development to build capacity in restorative practices.
  • Train and coach groups to facilitate restorative practices continuum.
  • Build positive relationships with staff, students, families and partners.
  • Develop strategies for universal prevention and whole-school implementation.
  • Support reduction of racial disparities in suspensions through evidence-based practices.
  • Document expulsion and rehabilitation processes for students.
  • Plan and document coaching cycles with school staff.
  • Support schools in using restorative practices to prevent suspensions.
