Job summary

ECS Group is seeking a Building Enclosure Staff Associate to join our Mid-Atlantic Building Science + Infrastructure team in Chantilly, VA. This role supports building envelope consulting projects, develops field investigation skills, and contributes to testing, reporting, and CAD tasks.

You will work with experienced consultants and project teams to evaluate envelope performance, support construction quality, and gain hands-on field experience in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering or Architecture (NCARB).
• 1+ year of related experience required.
• Certifications such as EIT or IIBEC would help candidacy.

Responsibilities

• Support building science & infrastructure testing, inspections, and consulting services.
• Conduct site observations and inspections of roofing and building enclosure systems with guidance from senior staff.
• Learn to interpret drawings, figures, and site plans; assist with drafting or CAD work when needed.
• Assist with specialized building enclosure testing and development of testing protocols.
• Document site observations and prepare field reports describing findings and conditions.
• Assist with analysis of field observations and testing results to support project conclusions.
• Develop familiarity with building codes and standards including IBC and local codes related to building enclosure systems.
