Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Building Engineer in Virginia to monitor, maintain, and repair building systems including plumbing, electrical, heating, and cooling. You will support preventive maintenance, energy management, and safety compliance across facilities in Petersburg area.

The role requires 4–5 years of related experience, a High School Diploma or GED, and a willingness to oversee maintenance operations, coordinate repairs, and mentor staff within CBRE’s safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 4–5 years of related experience.
• Universal CFC certification preferred.
• Prior shift management or supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs to mechanical, plumbing, structural, and electrical systems.
• Ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and safety policies.
• Maintain an energy management program to optimize efficiency.
• Assist with preventive maintenance and emergency repairs as needed.
• Follow safety guidelines for storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Inspect building systems (HVAC, fire alarms, plumbing) to ensure operation aligns with design specs.
• Apply standard techniques to solve complex assignments and provide solutions.
• Coach colleagues and share knowledge across related disciplines.
• Lead by example and help build consensus within CBRE teams.
• Work within broad guidelines and communicate complex information effectively.
