Job summary

Nationwide is seeking an Underwriter for Brokerage Casualty - E&S/Specialty to assess risks, determine pricing, terms, and conditions for mid-to-high complexity accounts. You will build broker relationships and contribute to production and loss ratio goals.

You will review exposures, endorsements, and exclusions, work with UW leaders, and gain underwriting authority with experience. A strong foundation in insurance concepts and effective communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of business and insurance concepts.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with internal and external individuals and groups.
• Ability to analyze insurance risks to determine acceptability including policy language, rating plans and reinsurance.

Responsibilities

• Review individual risks from brokers and accept/decline based on information.
• Achieve production and loss ratio goals through broker management and marketing.
• Handle policy maintenance items and endorsements; review loss control reports and follow up on information.
• Develop positive relationships with brokers and travel to broker offices for training or marketing visits.
