Job summary

The Texas Department of Transportation's Lufkin District is seeking a District Bridge Engineer to lead the bridge program across 9 counties. You will oversee the bridge inspection program, provide technical support to maintenance, and guide projects from assessment to replacement.

You will collaborate with local officials, ensure NBIS compliance, and help advance improvements in structural safety and reliability while balancing operations and life-cycle costs for district infrastructure.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related science (TX PELS acceptable).
4 years engineering/transportation engineering experience.
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or equivalent; NICET Level III/IV experience considered.

Responsibilities

Oversee district bridge inspection program and support maintenance operations.
Identify bridges for maintenance, rehabilitation or replacement.
Provide technical assistance in drainage design, hydraulics, and bridge-related disciplines.
Ensure NBIS compliance and adherence to federal/state standards.
Coordinate with local officials on structures outside state jurisdiction.
Assist in bridge project development and evaluation.
