Job summary
Texas Department of Transportation is seeking Transportation Specialist I–III to support the District's Bridge Program. You will assist in preparing plans, specifications, and estimates and work with engineers, inspectors, and staff to deliver bridge and roadway projects.
The role requires collaboration with consultants and contractors, and involves design oversight, project scheduling, and budget tracking within TxDOT guidelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline; experience may substitute education on a year-for-year basis.
- Experience requirements align with Specialist I–III levels for design, construction, traffic ops and bridge inspection.
Responsibilities
- Assist in prioritizing and scheduling projects.
- Assist with design calculations and sketches of plans.
- Coordinate design work among TxDOT entities, consultants and contractors.
- Coordinate with staff regarding construction operations related to contract administration and planning.
- Develop and monitor budgets.
- Develop site layouts using engineering software.
- Evaluate design issues.
- Inspect and appraise bridge structures per manuals.
- Prepare reports and recommend solutions.
- Review plan packages submitted by consultants.
- Review and revise Plans, Specifications & Estimates and project designs for traffic devices and ITS.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
