The Texas Department of Transportation Odessa District is seeking a Transportation Specialist I/II/III to support the Bridge Program, assist with bridge maintenance, rehabilitation and preservation projects, and help develop roadway plans for rehabilitation, maintenance and operational improvements.

You will prepare plans, specifications and estimates (PS&E) and collaborate with engineers, inspectors and staff to deliver projects district-wide.

Responsabilités

• Assists in prioritizing and scheduling projects.
• Assists with project design involving design calculations and sketches of plans, layouts and typical sections.
• Coordinates design work among TxDOT entities, consultants and contractors.
• Coordinates with staff and/or area engineers regarding construction operations as they relate to contract administration, programming, planning, design right-of-way and maintenance operations.
• Develops and monitors budgets.
• Develops site layouts utilizing engineering workstations and software.
• Evaluates and analyzes design issues.
• Inspects and appraises bridge structures according to the Bridge Inspection Manual.
• Researches and evaluates data, interprets and analyzes results, prepare reports and recommends solutions to problems.
• Reviews and oversees plan packages submitted by consultants.
• Reviews and revises Plans, Specifications & Estimates and project designs for traffic control devices, signals, signs, markings, detours, traffic control plans, roadway illumination, traffic management systems or Intelligent Transportation Systems
• Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
• Transportation Specialist II (in addition to above) serves as program coordinator for advanced engineering/architectural projects.
• Transportation Specialist III (in addition to above) assists in overseeing design work among TxDOT entities, consultants and contractors; coordinates scheduling and evaluates complex design issues; plans bridge inspection and Bridge Inspection Program activities; reviews plan packages.
