Job summary

Horner & Shifrin, Inc. seeks a full-time Bridge Project Engineer in our Structural Business Unit, based in Chicago, IL (and other offices). The candidate should have 5+ years of experience and a PE license, with IL licensure preferred.

You will follow Bridge Practice standards, perform structural calculations, develop drawings, and assist in cost estimates and reports. Strong communication and MicroStation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer with 5+ years of bridge experience.
• Experience with IDOT or Illinois Tollway bridge projects (firm requirement).
• Proficient in MicroStation and structural design software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to traverse construction sites; valid driver's license; background check required.

Responsibilities

• Follow Bridge Practice production and design standards and procedures as delegated by the Project Manager.
• Perform and check structural engineering calculations of bridges, retaining walls, and other transportation infrastructure structures.
• Participate in the preparation and checking of structural construction drawings created by teammates to meet firm and client requirements.
• Develop and check cost estimates.
• Participate in the preparation of reports and studies.
