Job summary

Epstein Architecture, Engineering and Construction seeks a Bridge Project Engineer with bridge experience to join our civil team in Chicago. The role focuses on design of transportation structures and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team on IDOT/ISTHA projects.

You will perform structural analyses, prepare reports and specs, assist construction administration, and mentor junior staff. A Civil Engineering degree and PE licensure are preferred, with 5+ years’ relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering.
• Master’s in Structural Engineering preferred.
• Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) preferred, or actively pursuing licensure with anticipated completion within 2 years.
• 5+ years of successful project experience within a consulting engineering firm.
• Expertise in bridge design principles and bridge inspection experience.
• Strong leadership with financial project management experience including scheduling, contract control, budget and cost control.
• Experience with Illinois Department of Transportation design standards, procedures and specifications is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design of transportation structures including highway bridges, retaining walls, and box culverts.
• Preparing structural analysis and design calculations according to the applicable design codes; using computer programs as appropriate
• Preparing technical reports, contract plans, and specifications, construction cost estimates and performance of on-site structural inspections, analysis and condition assessment of existing structures.
• Assisting with project construction administration including reviews of shop drawings and requests for information (RFI's)
• Mentoring junior engineering staff in technical and project development
