Job summary

IMEG Corp. in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a Bridge Project Designer to lead structural design and detailing for bridges and related transportation structures.

You will mentor colleagues, manage project planning, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet client goals and deliver integrated solutions. The role requires a BS in civil/structural engineering with 5–6 years in building design, proficiency in Civil 3D, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or equivalent required
• 5 years of experience minimum required, 6 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
• Basic understanding of the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and state DOT design manuals.
• Proficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools, primarily Civil 3D
• Proficient with pipe networking and road corridors
• Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
• Strong training and mentoring skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight stays

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design, detailing, and drafting for bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and other transportation structures.
• Lead design efforts for the analysis of civil engineering projects.
• Use engineering software and tools to develop detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
• Gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build client relationships through professional communication.
• Support consulting project execution as part of a project team.
• Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling activities to meet deadlines and objectives.
• Document client design decisions and instructions while monitoring design progress, percent complete, and fee expended.
• Analyze engineering problems and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical, efficient solutions.
• Conduct in-process design reviews and implement quality control processes for designs, calculations, and specifications.
• Apply state and local design criteria, prioritize safety and regulatory compliance, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
