Job summary

WSP is seeking a Bridge Inspection Team Leader, Senior Structural Engineer to join the Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team in New England (Boston, MA; Worcester, MA; Glastonbury, CT; Providence, RI). The role leads inspection work, mentors junior staff, and advances structural engineering solutions across multiple sites.

The position involves a 50/50 split between fieldwork and office work, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or equivalent is required.
• 7–10 years of bridge/tunnel/inspection experience or related work.
• Engineer in Training Certification (PE preferred).
• Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles and design processes.
• Interest in structures, transportation, and advancing skills within WSP’s projects.
• Physically capable of field work, heights, night work, and adverse conditions.
• 50% field work and 50% office work potential.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass MVR check.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication, ability to lead junior staff.
• Proficiency with MS Office and technical writing; AutoCAD familiarity helpful.

Responsibilities

• Lead a Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team on diverse projects.
• Serve as Team Leader on bridge, tunnel, and ancillary inspections.
• Perform professional structural engineering work and inspections.
• Assist in preparation of load ratings and design sketches with AutoCAD.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple projects.
• Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.
• Support project documentation, cost proposals, and scopes of work.
• Remain current on structural engineering techniques and practices.
