Job summary

HNTB in New Orleans is seeking an engineering department leader to guide a professional discipline, manage scope, budget, and quality, and ensure resources are aligned with project priorities.

You will recruit and mentor staff, coordinate work across multiple teams (15–20 engineers), contribute to SSA and SDA processes, support marketing and client relations, and advance the firm's strategic goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 10 years of practical experience including 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.
• 12 years practical experience preferred.
• 4 years supervisory experience preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred.
• American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification preferred.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops, monitors and manages the department's operating budget in support of the group or office operating budget and forecast updates.
• Manage department and staff; assign projects; staff development and mentoring.
• Support SSA process on project pursuits including development of department-level planning strategies.
• Support SDA process with Work Planning and Monthly Project Reviews to ensure quality work on schedule.
• Assist in marketing responsibilities including client discovery, proposal generation, interviews, and win-to-work activities.
• Maintain client contacts and lead sales and marketing efforts for department growth.
• Recruit, hire, develop and retain department staff with performance and succession planning.
• Manage project management activities including scope, schedule, budget and quality.
• Lead multiple teams including supervision of 15–20+ employees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
