Job summary

HNTB is seeking a leader to oversee a professional engineering discipline department responsible for the design, development and delivery of project tasks. You will manage scope, budget and quality, coordinating priorities and staffing across multiple projects.

You will coach and mentor staff, ensure efficient utilization, and support strategic plans and pursuit activities. Candidates should have a strong track record in department growth, hiring and performance management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 10 years of practical experience, including 2 years in supervision.
• Preferred: Master's degree in Engineering; PE, AICP, PMP certifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a professional/technical discipline department in design, development and delivery of project tasks.
• Oversee scope, budget and quality control across projects.
• Coordinate priorities, staffing and staff assignments to ensure resources are available.
• Coach, mentor and develop staff for high-quality service delivery.
• Support strategic planning, SSA, SCA and SDA processes on project pursuits.
• Assist with marketing, client discovery, proposals and win-to-work activities.
• Maintain client relationships and lead department growth and staffing.
• Recruit, hire and develop department staff including performance reviews and compensation planning.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget and quality; supervise multiple teams (15–20+ staff).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
