Job summary

The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) in Lincoln, NE is seeking a Professional Engineer II to lead bridge design projects. You will manage design delivery, act as engineer of record for bridge design and repair, and coordinate with NDOT divisions, FHWA, consultants, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with AASHTO specs and NDOT Bridge Design Manual, providing construction-phase support, and offering mentorship to engineers and designers while advancing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and 1 year of professional engineering experience.
• Must possess a PE license at time of employment or obtain within 90 days.
• Five+ years of bridge design, project management and construction experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage the design and delivery of bridge projects per AASHTO specs and NDOT Manual.
• Serve as engineer of record for bridge design and repair projects.
• Coordinate with NDOT divisions, FHWA, consultants, municipalities and utilities.
• Monitor projects from initiation to letting and construction, identify risks and mitigation.
• Represent Bridge Design at meetings and reviews, and coordinate PS&E submissions.
• Provide construction-phase support including site inspections and field reviews.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to engineers and designers; manage performance.
