Job Summary

We are seeking a Branch Operations Officer for a direct hire opportunity with a banking and consumer lending organization in Hayward, CA. Depending on experience and qualifications, candidates may be considered for either a Branch Operations Specialist or Branch Operations Officer level role. This position is ideal for a banking operations professional who enjoys leading branch teams, supporting excellent client service, maintaining strong operational controls, and contributing to branch growth. The role offers a professional in-office environment with supportive leadership, hands-on training, teamwork, and the opportunity to guide staff development while partnering closely with branch management. The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge of branch operations, compliance, customer service, staff coaching, and banking products and services. This is a strong opportunity for a detail-oriented banking professional who wants to take ownership of daily branch operations while helping create a positive experience for both clients and employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily branch operations, including staffing schedules, branch documentation, operational reports, new account reviews, file maintenance, and transaction approvals.
• Provide leadership, coaching, training, and development to branch staff while supporting performance management and accurate timekeeping.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, security standards, and applicable state and federal banking regulations.
• Support clients with account inquiries, disputes, escalated service concerns, new accounts, teller transactions, and relationship servicing.
• Partner with the Branch Manager on branch growth, client retention, promotional activities, deposit growth, and business development efforts.
• Maintain branch security controls, including keys, combinations, security signals, cash limits, and staff adherence to security procedures.

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay range: $25 to $39.13 per hour.
• Employment type: Direct hire.
• Location: Hayward, CA.
• Work arrangement: In-office role.
• Minimum of 10 CRA volunteer hours per year, typically scheduled during business hours. Volunteer time is compensable, and mileage is reimbursed.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Manage daily branch operations, operational controls, transaction approvals, exception items, reports, and compliance-related documentation.
• Lead, train, schedule, and support branch staff while helping maintain strong service, sales, and operational performance.
• Review new accounts, perform teller and account support duties, resolve escalated client concerns, and ensure adherence to banking procedures.
• Partner with branch leadership on customer retention, deposit growth, business development, and team goal achievement.
• Branch Operations Specialist level: Minimum of 5 years of banking experience, 2 years of supervisory experience, and 2 years of operations experience.
• Branch Operations Officer level: Minimum of 8 years of banking experience, 4 years of supervisory experience, and 4 years of operations experience.
• Strong understanding of banking operations, branch procedures, new accounts, teller functions, client service, and regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and banking systems or banking programs.
• Ability to lead staff, assess performance, provide coaching, and support a positive, professional team environment.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, math, reasoning, and client service skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced branch environment with frequent interruptions and competing priorities.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds and perform standard office-based work activities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Notary Public designation preferred.
• Experience supporting sales programs, deposit growth, customer retention, promotional activities, and business development efforts preferred.
• Prior experience managing branch staff, approving large transactions, handling NSF exception items, and supporting compliance reporting preferred.
