Job summary

SECU is seeking an Assistant Branch Manager to support the VP/SVP in daily operations, ensuring high-quality member service and regulatory compliance. The role includes mentoring staff, managing branch performance, and handling staff development initiatives.

The ABM will oversee lending/deposit services, assist Mortgage Lending staff, monitor KPIs, and resolve member issues across channels, while coordinating community involvement and ensuring policy adherence.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Preferred Bachelor’s degree or CCUE Certification or AA/AS via NC-CTP.
• Minimum 7 years of SECU or related experience preferred.
• Aptitude for meeting people and developing member confidence and trust.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Genuine concern for member welfare and staff development.
• Must meet Lead MSO qualifications and proficiency in lending.
• Ability to manage others harmoniously and work with co-workers; English fluency.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the branch under the VP/SVP and act in their absence, covering lending and deposit services.
• Delegate duties and ensure completion of work.
• Understand BORA and educate staff on responsibilities.
• Identify and mitigate operational risk.
• Evaluate, process, and decision loans within Tier 5 lending limits.
• Oversee loan review to align with SECU policy.
• Support MLOs in non-MLO tasks and train ABM in these duties.
• Assist Lead MSO and supervise collections per SECU policy.
• Monitor KPI and identify improvement opportunities.
• Respond promptly to member complaints and oversee resolutions.
• Assist with personnel issues alongside VP/SVP and HR.
• Perform Workday tasks (PTO approvals, hires, etc.).
• Set performance goals for MSM and MSO staff.
• Screen applicants and participate in hiring decisions.
• Mentor staff, especially MSM and Lead MSO.
• Ensure staff knowledge of SECU products and policies.
• Monitor branch performance reports and metrics.
• Be able to perform Lead MSO duties as needed.
• Maintain branch facilities and equipment.
• Encourage referrals to specialists for real estate lending, insurance, investments, estate planning.
