Job summary

Specialty Building Products' Mansfield, MA branch is seeking an Assistant Branch Manager to partner with the Branch Manager in guiding daily operations, sales, service, and financial performance, while ensuring safety and profitability.

You will lead cross‑functional teams across operations, logistics, administrative and support functions; develop people, improve processes, control costs, support revenue growth, and help achieve branch goals.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in operations, distribution, sales, logistics, branch management, or related business.
• 3+ years of leadership experience managing supervisors, managers, or cross-functional teams.
• Strong understanding of business operations, customer service, financial performance, and people leadership.
• Experience managing or influencing budgets, labor plans, operating expenses, or other financial performance measures.
• Ability to review financial and operational data, identify trends, and develop action plans.
• Strong leadership, communication, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively across sales, operations, logistics, administrative, and support functions.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day branch leadership and overall management alongside Branch Manager.
• Coach and develop inside sales team members.
• Set clear expectations for safety, service, productivity, sales performance, and cost control.
• Support staffing, scheduling, cross-training, succession planning, and employee development.
• Promote ownership, teamwork, accountability, customer service, and continuous improvement.
• Assist managers with performance management and employee development.
• Support warehouse and logistics operations to ensure safe, accurate execution.
• Monitor productivity, inventory accuracy, service levels, and costs.
• Identify root causes of operational challenges and implement improvements.
• Collaborate with sales leadership to support branch sales objectives and revenue growth.
• Build strong customer relationships and resolve escalated issues.
• Review customer needs and opportunities for improvement.
