Job summary

Lakeshore Branch Library in Moreno Valley is seeking a Branch Manager to lead daily operations, ensure exceptional service, and foster a welcoming, collaborative environment for staff and patrons.

The role emphasizes strong leadership, community partnerships, and adherence to library ethics and privacy policies, with on-site work and full-time hours. A BA/BS is required, MLIS preferred, and supervisory experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) required; MLIS preferred.
• One year of supervisory experience preferred.
• One year of progressively responsible library management and/or library administrative experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of knowledge and experience.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively supervise, coach, and support staff while maintaining positive working relationships.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and provide responsive service to the community.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, establish priorities, and respond effectively to changing operational needs.
• Ability to work collaboratively with library leadership, staff, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
• Regular and reliable attendance is a requirement of this position.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Lakeshore Branch and ensure a welcoming, safe, service-focused environment for patrons and staff.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and support to branch staff and promote a positive, collaborative work environment.
• Oversee staff scheduling, training, performance, and professional development to support effective branch operations.
• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, library leadership, community organizations, and other partners.
• Communicate clearly, professionally, and in a timely manner through verbal and written communication.
• Identify opportunities to improve branch operations, programs, services, and the overall patron experience.
• Anticipate and respond to needs of patrons, staff, community partners, and stakeholders within guidelines.
