Job summary

Kent District Library is seeking a Circulation Assistant to support patrons with checkout, renewals, and account questions. You will assist with card issuance, fines processing, and materials maintenance while delivering friendly, accurate service.

You will help patrons locate items, provide reference assistance, and support digital collections and eReader devices as needed. The role may involve inter-library loan tasks and occasional travel between locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in a library or retail setting preferred.
• Basic clerical and computer skills.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Check in/out library materials and collect funds for fines or fees.
• Issue library cards and register new patrons; process name/address changes.
• Sort, shelve, and inspect library materials; perform light maintenance.
• Provide reference and information services and assist with searches.
• Help patrons access digital collections and eReader devices.
• Assist with inter-library loans and run related reports.
