Job summary

Clermont County Public Library seeks a Library Assistant Specialist to deliver excellent guest services, assist with circulation, reference, and technology help, and support programs across branches. You will engage patrons of all ages, guide them in using the catalog and digital resources, and contribute to a welcoming, information-rich environment.

The role involves processing holds, interlibrary loan requests, basic tech training, and helping with daily clerical tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; two years of related experience preferred.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, computers, and basic technology troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with library resources, reference services, and office equipment preferred.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask and work independently.
• Professional, dependable, and able to maintain confidentiality.
• Available to work evenings, weekends, and at multiple branch locations as needed.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds, move loaded book carts, and perform shelving and other physical library duties.
• Reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Provides circulation, reference, and reader's advisory services at the service desk.
• Assists guests with technology, online catalog, and databases.
• Reserves materials and processes interlibrary loan requests.
• Promotes library programs and services to the public.
• Trains the public in using computers and electronic resources.
• Uses circulation system to check in/out, handles holds, registrations, and fines.
• Performs opening/closing duties including cash handling and balancing the cash sheet.
• Maintains knowledge of Dewey Decimal Classification for shelving and processing donations.
• Performs general clerical duties and maintains branch files and statistics.
• Monitors safety and facilities; reports issues to management.
• Participates in professional development activities.
