Job summary

Kirkwood Public Library is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to support daily patron service and materials handling. The role includes shelving, circulation tasks, and assisting patrons with the catalog, computers, and databases.

Responsibilities cover self-checkout support, reader’s advisory, display planning, and basic clerical duties while maintaining a welcoming, orderly library environment.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience in a busy public setting.
• Good knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
• Ability to spell, alphabetize, and perform basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Sort, organize and reshelve materials throughout the library.
• Check materials in/out and issue library cards; assist with self-checkout.
• Assist patrons with the catalog, computers, Internet, databases, and Microsoft applications.
• Provide reader's advisory and help with displays.
• Take minutes at meetings and maintain tidy work areas.
