Job summary

Kent District Library is seeking a dedicated Circulation Assistant to support patron service at a Walker, MI location. You will check in/out materials, issue library cards, collect fines, and assist with holds and inter-library loans.

You’ll help patrons navigate the catalog, databases, and eReaders, while maintaining accurate records and helping with basic equipment repairs. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, basic clerical skills, and a customer-service mindset.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in library or retail setting preferred.
• Basic clerical and computer skills needed.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Check in/out library materials and collect fines for lost/damaged items.
• Register new patrons and process name/address changes.
• Maintain circulation records and data entry for items and patrons.
• Sort, shelf, and inspect materials; assist with holds and inter-library loan tasks.
• Provide reference help and assist patrons with databases and eReader devices.
• Operate and troubleshoot library equipment and point-of-sale devices.
• Travel between KDL locations as needed and support branch team.
