Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 is seeking an Activities Coach under the Director of Athletics and Activities to assist with planning, implementing, and evaluating all facets of the sport in a safe, inclusive, and development-focused environment. The stipend position is non-tenure and contingent upon enrollment, program approval, and available funding.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) OR ASEP/NFHS Certification.
• CPR and AED certification per IHSA requirements.
• IHSA concussion awareness training and safety protocols.
• Background check and fingerprinting clearance.
• Title IX training.
• Strong knowledge of the sport, rules, techniques, and strategies.
• Prior coaching experience in the assigned sport.
• Strong instructional skills in individual and team fundamentals.
• Commitment to diverse, inclusive athletic program.
• Coaching certification through ASEP/NFHS/IHSA-approved programs.
• Concussion certification valid for two years.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Head Coach to design drills, plans, and conditioning sessions.
• Provide individualized feedback on technique and sportsmanship.
• Assist with game-day logistics, equipment setup, venue prep, warm-ups, and scorekeeping.
• Maintain and inventory athletic equipment, coordinate repairs, storage, and issuance.
• Monitor adherence to IHSA rules, district policies, and safety protocols (CPR/AED readiness and concussion management).
• Support athlete eligibility tracking and document required materials like physicals and academic clearances.
• Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff; liaise with Head Coach as needed.
• Participate in preseason parent meetings, team briefs, trainings, and postseason tasks.
• Assist Head Coach and Athletic Director with schedules and travel logistics.
• Support budget management and equipment purchasing and inventory.
