Job summary

Deer Creek School District is seeking a 7th Boys Basketball Assistant Coach to lead and support a high school sports program. The role focuses on teaching fundamentals, team strategy, and physical training to foster both individual and team success.

The coach will work under the athletic director, supervise other coaches, and promote sportsmanship, safety, and character development among student-athletes.

Qualifications

• Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
• Head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and continue to examine new theories and procedures.
• Head coach must be a positive role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
• Upgrading knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations and consultation.
• Advise, coordinate and support a staff of high school and middle school coaches with the athletic director and principals.
• Assist in scheduling, transportation and event logistics; coordinate with maintenance and school staff.
• Provide documentation for state and system requirements concerning examinations, consent and eligibility.
• Mentor student-athletes to develop character traits such as trustworthiness, respect, responsibility and citizenship.
