Job summary

The Deer Creek School District seeks a head coach to lead and supervise a comprehensive high school sports program. The role requires strong organizational skills, proven coaching experience, and deep knowledge of the sport's technical aspects, while modeling excellent conduct for student athletes.

The head coach will work with the athletic director and principals, oversee a coaching staff, and ensure adherence to policies, safety, and character development throughout the season.

Qualifications

• Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
• Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
• Must serve as a role model for student athletes.

Responsibilities

• Establishes the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by staff. Designs conferences, clinics and staff meetings to insure staff awareness of overall program.
• Trains and informs staff, encourages professional growth by encouraging clinic attendance according to local clinic policy.
• Delegates specific duties, supervises implementation and, at season's end, analyzes staff effectiveness and evaluates all assistants.
• Assists the athletic director in scheduling, providing transportation and requirements for tournament and special sport events.
• Mentors athletes to promote character development and monitors grades and conduct.
• Manages budgeting, equipment, and public relations as part of program administration.
