Job summary

The Merchant in Salem is a petite 11-room boutique hotel seeking a Full-Time Front Desk Agent. You’ll greet guests, handle reservations, and offer local recommendations to craft memorable stays in a warm, personalized way.

With daytime shifts typically between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM and a focus on hospitality, you’ll balance professionalism with a friendly, local touch, contributing to a unique guest experience at a historic property.

Qualifications

• Experience in front desk, hospitality, or customer service preferred but not required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent typing skills for professional emails and guest correspondence.
• High attention to detail in reservations and written communication.
• Ability to multitask and stay composed under pressure.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with computers and mobile devices; hotel PMS is a plus.
• Flexible schedule with weekend availability.
• Daytime availability (8 am–6 pm) is required.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests and create a warm, polished first impression.
• Assist with arrivals, departures, reservations, parking, luggage, and guest requests efficiently and accurately.
• Communicate with guests in person, by phone, text, and email.
• Share recommendations for restaurants, attractions, and local experiences.
• Maintain clean, welcoming common spaces and assist with breakfast and seasonal treats.
• Collaborate with housekeeping and management to keep operations running smoothly.
• Identify opportunities to delight guests and resolve issues quickly and professionally.
• Maintain accurate records and handle payments securely.
