Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) for full-time, entry- and mid-level positions.

The role supports border security and enforcement, with education or experience in public safety qualifying you for multiple grades, including GL-5, GL-7, GL-9 or GS-11, with potential promotion to GS-12. Salary ranges from $51,632 to $124,717 per year, with generous benefits such as health and dental insurance, paid leave, and the Thrift Savings Plan.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience or education substitution as described for GL-5.
• Education/combination options allow GL-5; GL-7 through GL-9/GS-11 have separate criteria.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of immigration or customs violations; inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using various assets.
• Patrolling borders and coastal waterways with different vehicles to fulfill CBP mission.
