Qualifications

• Knowledge of Immigration and Nationality Law (e.g., non-immigrant classifications)
• Knowledge of the Use of Force Policy (firearms, less-lethal devices)
• Knowledge of Criminal Law and Procedure (statutory authority)
• Skill in Using Physical Techniques (self-defense, baton, OC spray)
• Skill in Using Firearms (handgun, shotgun, M-4)
• Knowledge of Basic Operation of a Motor Vehicle (everyday use)

Responsibilities

• Detect immigration and customs violations and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night-ops gear.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrol borders and coastal waterways using vehicles, horses, vessels, and other assets.
