Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks Border Patrol Agents to protect the United States by preventing illegal entry and securing borders.

BPAs operate across diverse duties, benefit from robust federal employment packages, and may receive recruitment incentives up to $20,000 with additional retention incentives up to $30,000. Positions range across GL-5 to GS-12 grades with varying base salaries and comprehensive retirement plans, health, dental, and paid leave benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification requirements for GL-5/7/9/11 in Border Patrol Agent roles.
• Citizenship: U.S. citizen.
• KSAOs related to immigration law, use of force policy, criminal law and procedure, and firearms.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of immigration and customs violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various assets.
