Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring full-time Border Patrol Agents (BPA) across several duty locations. The role involves screening individuals, preventing illicit entries, and conducting routine border and traffic checks using a variety of assets.

Compensation includes base pay with federal benefits and potential recruitment incentives. Eligibility can be via education or prior public safety or law enforcement experience, with opportunities for career advancement to GS-12.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience or equivalent education/ training.
• A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree.
• Combination of general work experience and education may qualify.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night operations.
• Interpreting tracks, marks and evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
• Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using various government assets.
