Qualifications

• Experience: One year of general work experience showing ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations; OR
• Education substitution: a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; OR
• Combination of experience and education: resume and transcripts used to evaluate.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance from various vantage points.
• Interpret tracks, signs, and evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks as part of patrol duties.
• Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using vehicles, horses, vessels, and other assets.
