Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) on a full-time basis at various grades, offering base pay plus competitive federal benefits.

The role involves enforcing immigration and customs laws, border surveillance, and upholding public safety across multiple duty locations within the United States. Qualifications

• One year of general work experience showing ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and learn regulations.
• A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.
• A combination of general work experience AND college education.
• One year of specialized work experience for GL-7 showing ability to make judgments, deal with people courteously, and analyze information.
• A bachelor’s degree with Superior Academic Achievement or one year of graduate-level education in related fields for higher grades.
• Combination of Experience and Education will be calculated from resume and transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near the borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions including night operations with infrared scopes.
• Interpreting tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband.
• Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
• Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using vehicles, horses, vessels, and other assets to fulfill the USBP Mission.
