Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) for full-time, entry- to mid-level career paths. Base pay ranges with promotion potential, plus health, dental and retirement benefits and Thrift Savings Plan.

Qualifications

• Experience: One year of general work experience showing ability to take charge and maintain composure in stressful situations; to learn regulations, methods, and techniques.
• Education Substitution: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; OR
• Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of general work experience AND completed college education.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of immigration and customs violations; inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near borders using surveillance and night operations.
• Interpret tracks, marks and other physical evidence of illegal entry; perform farm, building, traffic, city and transportation checks.
• Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft and other assets to fulfill CBP mission.
