Job summary

Books-A-Million is seeking a Bookseller dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service and a welcoming shopping experience. You will greet customers, answer questions, operate the cash register, and assist with placing and restocking merchandise on the floor.

The role emphasizes teamwork, accuracy in handling transactions, and following merchandising guidelines while keeping the store neat and inviting.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Successful completion of required background screenings.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Previous retail sales experience.
• Computer and cash register skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides customers with the highest level of customer service by greeting each customer, communicating and assisting customers with questions and orders, and efficient cashiering.
• Sales of all products and promotion of point of sale initiatives including Membership programs, Magazine for Millionaires program, Educator programs, and other company-sponsored programs.
• Balances cash drawer following each register shift within allowable variances as identified in the Loss Prevention Policy.
• Delivers and places product on the sales floor in accordance with merchandising guidelines and timelines.
• Recovers the sales floor during each shift, including picking up items, shelving books and product, straightening bookshelves and tables, and store housekeeping tasks as required.
• Protects company assets by adhering to all loss prevention standards and acting with integrity in all transactions.
• Other duties as assigned including assisting in other departments, receiving shipments, small fixture assembly and maintenance, assisting with inventory, and restroom cleanliness.
