Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to deliver precise bookkeeping, payroll and client service. You will help live our brand purpose to provide help and inspire communities everywhere.

The role emphasizes accurate data entry, reconciliations and timely payroll processing while maintaining professional communications with clients and vendors. Xero experience and GAAP knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications or ability to obtain them.
• 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and bookkeeping procedures.
• Ability to interpret and apply policies and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W-2s and tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and growth opportunities.
