Job summary

General Public, a revolutionary art publishing company, seeks an experienced Bookkeeper to maintain accurate day-to-day accounting. You will handle payables and receivables, reconcile statements, and convert orders into invoices.

You’ll collaborate with the finance team and other departments to keep records clean and timely. The role is hourly, non-exempt, onsite 3-4 days with one remote day, offering flexible start times within a standard workday.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of accounting principles, including debits and credits, accruals and the general ledger.
• Hands-on bookkeeping experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliation.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with numbers.
• Well organized, able to manage deadlines and priorities.
• Clear written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Process payables and receivables and turn sales/purchase orders into invoices and payables.
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements, post journal entries, and assist month-end close.
• Close sales orders, apply payments, and follow up on past-due balances.
• Maintain organized files and documentation suitable for audit.
