Job summary

GENERAL PUBLIC, an art publishing company leveraging proprietary 3-D technology to reproduce paintings, seeks an experienced Bookkeeper to maintain day-to-day accounting, process payables and receivables, reconcile statements, and convert sales orders into invoices.

The position is hourly and non-exempt, on site 3–4 days per week with a possible remote day, with flexible start and end times within a standard workday.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of accounting principles, including debits and credits, accruals and the general ledger.
• Hands-on bookkeeping experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliation.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with numbers.
• Well organized, able to manage deadlines and priorities.
• Clear written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Enter vendor bills and code them to the correct accounts.
• Close purchase orders and generate payables from them.
• Match bills to purchase orders and receiving documents, and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare payments for approval and respond to vendor inquiries.
• Close sales orders and generate customer invoices.
• Apply customer payments and follow up on past-due balances.
• Respond to customer billing questions.
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements, and investigate and clear differences.
• Post journal entries as directed.
• Support month-end close by keeping transactions current and accurate.
• Keep files and supporting documentation organized and audit-ready.
