We're a family-owned, international company with operations in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, and our Atlanta office needs someone to keep the books clean, current, and trustworthy.
This is a hands-on role in a small team. You won't be one of fifty people in an accounting department. You'll own the day-to-day numbers for our U.S. operation, including payroll, and our finance colleagues in the Netherlands will rely on what you close each month.
If you enjoy getting every account to reconcile to the penny, and you'd rather flag a problem early than explain it late, this is your role.
Location: Atlanta, GA (on-site)
Reports to: General Manager, USA
Type: Full-time
What you'll do
- Own payroll end to end: process each payroll cycle, maintain employee records, handle new hires and terminations, and make sure federal and Georgia payroll taxes are filed and paid on time.
- Manage accounts payable: enter and verify vendor invoices, match them to purchase orders and receipts, and schedule payments.
- Manage accounts receivable: issue invoices, apply customer payments, and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts every month.
- Support the month-end close: journal entries, accruals, and preparing the reports our finance team needs.
- Process and review employee expense reports and travel expenses.
- Prepare and file sales and use tax returns, and keep 1099 and vendor records up to date.
- Keep records organized and audit-ready, and support our external accountants at year-end.
- Work with our finance team in Europe on intercompany transactions and reporting.
Requirements
- 2+ years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience (AP, AR, reconciliations, month-end close).
- Hands-on experience running payroll for U.S. employees, including payroll tax filings (with a provider such as ADP, Paychex, or Gusto).
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP basics and double-entry accounting.
- Experience with accounting software or an ERP (we use Odoo; QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar experience is fine).
- High attention to detail and a strong sense of confidentiality.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
Nice to have
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience with benefits administration (health insurance, 401(k) contributions).
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or the food industry (inventory and cost of goods).
- Experience with multi-currency or intercompany accounting.
- Hands-on experience with Odoo.
- Spanish, Dutch, or another language is a plus.
Who we're looking for
- Precise. You check your own work before anyone else has to.
- Organized. Deadlines, especially payroll deadlines, don't sneak up on you.
- Proactive. If a number looks off, you dig in and ask the question.
- Trustworthy and discreet with sensitive information, from salaries to bank details.
- Comfortable working independently in a small office where everyone wears a few hats.
- A clear communicator, including with colleagues in other countries and time zones.
What we offer
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Health benefits and paid time off.
- A small, close-knit team where your work is visible and valued.
- International exposure, working with finance colleagues in Europe.
- Room to grow as the U.S. operation grows.
