Job summary

North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is seeking a skilled Maintenance/Construction Technician II (Boating Technician) to join our Engineering/Construction team. You will build and maintain boating access areas, docks, ramps and shoreline structures across the state, working outdoors and traveling statewide.

The position offers a typical 4‑day workweek (10‑hour days) with statewide travel and pre‑employment drug testing; eligibility for state employee benefits is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1 year of related experience.
• Experience in construction methods and equipment operation.
• Ability to read blueprints and work with carpentry and concrete.
• Valid NC driver’s license; ability to obtain CDL within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as tractors, dozers, excavators, loaders, graders, dump trucks.
• Construct and maintain concrete boat ramps, wooden docks, bulkheads, and breakwaters.
• Work on the water using motorboats and marine equipment.
• Assist with construction and repair of fish hatchery facilities.
• Track project progress and document work for reporting.
