Job summary

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Technician II (Boating Technician) to join our Engineering/Construction team. You will build and maintain boating access areas, docks, ramps, and shoreline structures across the state, supporting anglers, boaters, and outdoor enthusiasts.

The role involves operating a wide range of heavy equipment, working on water with marine gear, and collaborating with a team under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1 year of related trade experience.
• Valid NC driver’s license within 90 days; ability to obtain Class A CDL within 12 months.
• Pre-employment drug/alcohol testing required; background check.
• EPA Type I/II/III or Universal certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including tractors, dozers, excavators, loaders, graders, dump trucks.
• Construct and maintain concrete boat ramps, wooden docks, bulkheads, and breakwaters.
• Work on the water using motorboats and marine equipment.
• Assist with construction, maintenance, and repair of fish hatchery facilities.
• Track project progress and complete essential documentation.
