Job summary

State of North Carolina - Department of Transportation is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Technician III to support the Ferry Division. The role involves skilled trades across carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and water/wastewater systems at multiple ferry locations with travel across shipyards and terminals.

The position requires high school or GED plus two years’ related experience; EPA certification may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and two years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret building codes and blueprints.
  • Experience with general maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment, and machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled work in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or water/wastewater O&M.
  • Troubleshoot and repair reported issues with electrical, HVAC, water/wastewater systems, and facility components.
  • Manage projects with basic planning, organization, and administrative skills.
  • Complete special assignments as directed by the Facility Maintenance Supervisor.
