Job summary

Nemours Children's Health seeks a Supervisor, Laboratory Operations (Blood Bank) to join the Wilmington, Delaware team. The role supports the Laboratory Manager in daily Blood Bank operations, HR functions, and patient care partnerships, emphasizing quality, accreditation, and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate will lead a technical staff, drive training and competency, and ensure SOP adherence while coordinating with Medical Director and clinical colleagues.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Medical Technology (B.S.M.T. or equivalent) or ability to meet CLIA qualifications for Moderate complexity testing.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a supervisor or team lead.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
• Nationally/internationally recognized MLS certification eligible; must obtain within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist Laboratory Manager with day-to-day Blood Bank operations and HR management.
• Coach and mentor technical staff; develop personnel goals and service standards.
• Review antibody identifications, transfusion reaction workups, and ABO discrepancies.
• Ensure procedures follow SOPs and regulatory guidelines; maintain quality control and readiness for inspections.
• Participate in recruitment, staff evaluation, training, and competency programs.
• Schedule staff to ensure continuous laboratory services and minimize overtime.
• Select and justify equipment purchases; maintain inventory and regulatory documentation.
• Maintain safety policies and train staff on PPE and hazardous materials handling.
