Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a Blood Bank Supervisor to oversee the Blood Bank section, ensuring regulatory compliance and leading the team with quality control and staff development. Collaboration with department leadership is essential for program effectiveness and patient safety.

The role requires extensive knowledge of transfusion services, regulatory standards, and the ability to manage multiple tasks, including performance reviews and scheduling, in a high-stakes environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge to interpret patient results, laboratory regulatory standards as set forth by CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, CMS, OSHA, AABB, and CLSI.
• Training and development in supervision and business operations.
• Time management skills; independent decision making ability.
• Must be able to respond to calls on evenings, weekends and nights.
• Proficient in handling difficult serological and other transfusion service issues.

Responsibilities

• Supervise departmental employees including new employee orientation, competency assessment, performance evaluation, and handling of personnel matters.
• Ensure the Blood Bank section is in compliance with regulatory requirements and standards.
• Plans, directs and coordinates clinical activities for the Blood Bank section and interprets test results.
