Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a Medical Technologist for the Blood Bank at the Winston Campus in Winston-Salem. The role is full-time on the third shift with weekend coverage as needed, involving accurate testing, specimen handling, and adherence to lab protocols.

The candidate should hold a BS in a biological/chemical/medical technology field, ASCP certification, and ideally NAACLS MT training. AMT CMP participation is encouraged for ongoing certification maintenance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or a chemical, physical or biological science from an accredited university.
• MT certification preferred.
• NAACLS approved Medical Technology program preferred.
• Technologist/Scientist Certification from ASCP or equivalent required.
• ASCP and AMT CMP participation requirements for certified personnel.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to hospital policies and maintains professional standards.
• Performs laboratory testing accurately and within required turnaround times.
• Properly collects, accession, and labels specimens; responds to STAT samples.
• Maintains QC procedures and documents results.
• Trains and mentors staff; covers workload as needed; supports department operations.
• Maintains safety practices to protect staff and patients.
• Upholds professional image of laboratories and patient-centered care.
